Summer Visit with Granddad in Seneca

We went back to Seneca after our Virginia trip.  Stevie got control of Granddad's remote and didn't want to share.

Visit with Aunt Missy

When we got back to Midlothian, Steve's Aunt Missy came up for a visit.

Stevie loves the glass doors to the Florida room.

Summer vacation - Day 2- Washington, DC

After starting our day with a tasty breakfast, we went to Arlington Cemetary.  We visited Steve's grandmother's grave and took the kids to see the changing of the guard.

We drove over to visit the monuments.  We did rubbings at the Vietnam Memorial....

... climbed all the steps to the top of the Lincoln Memorial....

.... walked down the reflecting pool all the way to the Washington Monument....

... and visited the new World War II memorial.

A huge storm came up as we were walking around the monuments and we had to make a mad dash for the Jeep.  We got in just as the rain came pelting down.  As Steve was maneuvering through the CRAZY Washington traffic, Nanny got her phone out of her purse.  She had placed her phone in the same pocket as a 1/2 eaten chocolate bar.  The bar melted ALL over the phone.

We spent the next several hours in Grandpop's favorite museum, The National Air and Space Museum.  All the kids enjoyed the exhibits.

Summer Trip to Chincoteague, VA

We spent two weeks on vacation this summer and had a great time.  Our first stop was Chincoteague, VA to watch the ponies swim. The first day we got to look at where the ponies were being penned before the swim.

We left where the ponies were and went down to the beach to fly kites.  Steve had gotten the big kids some awesome kites when he went to Teacher Academy at Ocracoke Island.  They loved them.

After flying kites, we stopped by the Assateague Lighthouse to get some quick pics before the sun went down.  We got BOMBARDED by mosquitoes.  We actually ran all the way to the lighthouse, took the picture and ran back.  I don't think I have ever seen so many bugs!!!
The next morning we got up early and went to see the ponies swim.  We had a little time to kill once we got there, so the kids found a playground.  This is the neatest see-saw that I have ever seen.
 Waiting on the ponies....
... and 6 hours later, the ponies spent a little over 2 minutes in the water.  It was well worth the wait.

First trip to Seneca

Steve spent most of April and May thinking about spending time on the lake fishing.  He was glad to be back on the water.  We love being able to relax with Steve's Uncle Jim and Aunt Jamie.  We always have a great time and love being able to see Granddad.

Stevie wasn't really excited about getting her toes dipped in the lake....

She loved floating on the raft with her daddy...

... and eventually ended up in the water with him.

She loved spending time on the boat, even it was docked.

An evening on the water tired her out....

Stevie's First Birthday

Stevie's first birthday was a fun day. We started off the day by going to church .
Steve made her cake....

I made her cupcakes.....

She wasn't really sure what to do with it but she finally figured it out...
She realized it tasted pretty good....

and wanted to share it with Aunt Shelly....

... and with daddy.....

After we got cleaned up, we took lots of group pictures....the McManus girls....

 ... and Uncle Mikey.....

Stevie's first Krispy Kreme

Yes.. I know there is absolutely nothing organic about Krispy Kreme doughnuts. She may look exactly like my husband, but she is still a little bit of me. My favorite thing on earth is a Krispy Kreme doughnut. I even ate them the day she was born, National Doughnut Day. She started off slowly, but once she tasted it, she LOVED it.
